Apple Picking Porch Party on SMP Living

It's no secret that I seriously love Fall and lucky for me two of my best girls share the same sentiment.  Last month we had one of those perfect days celebrating Autumn in New England. It was filled with delicious apple treats, gorgeous blooms, and tasty cider cocktails -- what's better than that on a crisp October Day?  I'm so excited to share that this pretty little afternoon I spent with Bring to Light Photography and Domestikated Life  is being featured over on Style Me Pretty Living this morning! So even though its a blustery November day outside check out this Ode to Fall and get inspired because there is plenty of Autumn left to celebrate!  I'm sharing a few of my favorites here but make sure to head over to the feature to see all of the fun! Autumn in Scituate

The fall foliage has been out of control lately, so we did some serious leaf peeping over the weekend.  I grabbed my camera and my husband and I went around town stopping at the most scenic locations as I scouted them from the car.   It's one of the first times in a while we have been able to enjoy the leaf season from our own home and town rather then a pre-planned country getaway and it has been so nice.  Just adding it to the long list of why I love living in this pretty little town.

Country Living

Sometimes I almost forget how much our lives have changed since our move, until I have my girlfriends - who live in Boston - come out for a weekend getaway.  It's hard to compare our little town's hot spots (as great as they are!) with the thrill of the City, but I think that's part of the charm.  Oh, but then there are moments like when I visit my brother in law's beautiful chickens, and I have no trouble remembering where we are.

South Shore Country Living

There are so many reasons I love living in this part of the country.  Fall in New England is my absolute favorite and we have been really enjoying our first Autumn living out in the "country". We have farms galore and beautiful country roads chock full of cranberry bogs and crimson leaves to take you there, it's almost too picturesque to believe these days.  (Really trying to soak it in before the snow and harsh coastal winter winds shoo us indoors!)  This past weekend my husband and I went to a favorite spot, Sauchuck Farms, for our annual dose of Pumpkins & Cider.

Its so serene out there, and the ride home takes us past a favorite antique shop, what's better than that?

DIY Kitchen Makeover

Renovation on a budget is all about prioritizing.   Since we put so much of our financial resources in to our new roof, new bathroom, and other general must-be-done repairs, our kitchen is the biggest temporary  DIY make over. Truth be told, I had NO hopes of resurrecting our kitchen.  It was awful and I wanted to tear every single thing out as soon as we could. But as everyone knows kitchens are crazy expensive. So we got out the paint, sanded and repainted every.single.surface and upgraded the little details.

I replaced all the knobs with decorative glass pulls from anthropologie and my husband installed a brand new light fixture from Ballard Designs along with a shiny new Moen faucet.  We embraced the quirks (like the missing doors) and I'm displaying all my white dishware. Hey, open shelving is country classic right?  There are still a few to-do's like removing the oversized wood stove, and doing something about those bright red counters - but for now, It's been a pretty welcome change.  Best of all - the elements we did upgrade, are all pieces we will be happy to see stay when we do get around to a full kitchen remodel.
